    February : DIR training.

The 2006 diving season started off with taking a GUE Fundamentals course in krabi.
GUE stands for Global Underwater Explorers which is another diving Agency based in the USA. Their diving tend to deal with research and exploration but more importantly they favour Halcyon gear and the DIR (Doing It Right) approach to diving.
After 20 years of diving and teaching scuba I thought my diving was spot on. Sure I can be neutral at any depth but sustaining the DIR buoyancy and trim takes a lot of practice and effort. You can pretty much kiss goodbye the traditional schools’ fin pivot and different states of buoyancy! It was a real eye opener and I highly recommend it to any divers using the backplate and wing system.
